About The Book
The Hardy brothers ( Joe and Frank) are helping their father solve a case. Mr. and Mrs. Applegate's house has been stolen. Mr. and Mrs. Applegate suspect Mr. Robinson as the culprit. Mr. Robinson's son Perry Robinson was a very close friend to the Hardy's. The Hardys' knew that Mr. Robinson had not robbed the house. Mr. and Mrs. Applegate suspected Mr. Robinson because he was a very poor man and he had deposited $ 900 the day after the robbery. He would not tell how he had not got the money because he had promised not to tell anyone. The Hardy Brother's first suspect was a man with a wig. He had stolen a car from the Hardys' friend, Chet Morton. The kept on investigating but they kept on coming to dead ends. One day Fenton Hardy caught the man with the wig. His name was Jackley. He had just met with a train accident. He confessed the crime once he was told that he was going to die. He told that he had hidden the stolen goods in the first tower. There were two towers in Mr. and Mrs. Applegate's mansion. They checked the first one but the stolen goods were not there. They then checked the second tower also. The stolen goods were not there also. Then it occured to them that Jackley was a worker at the railway station and the stolen goods might be hidden there. They checked the tower there and sure enough the stolen goods were there. They immediately reported to their father. They then went to Mr. and Mrs. Applegate. They were very thrilled. As a reward they gave Joe and Frank $ 1000. Mr. and Mrs. Applegate apologised to Mr. Robinson. They increased his salary as he was working there. The Hardy Boys had solved their first case!
